K, so...Like the title says this is only Prot info, however, if someone has a question about dps specs/gemming/whatever feel free to make a topic about it or get with me in game and I can see about making one of these for that as well. Keep in mind too that this thread is assuming that you've been running heroics for gear and are geared enough for content like ToC/ICC...If you are a fresh 80 or are beginning to gear up feel free to ask questions but for the most part all this information still applies.
Also, if anyone has any suggestions of things I can add or has any questions about choices of spec/glyph/whatever feel free to either post here or contact me in game. Need more decent warrior tanks so...Please don't just assume and do things wrong.
First: Gems
Meta: Austere Earthsiege Diamond(+32 Stam/2% increased armor value from items)
Everything else: Stam, stam, and more stam...You really can't have too much stam.
Generally every gem you have should be stam with the exception of one purple hybrid, which stat you choose is really personal preference however dodge/expertise/agility are the more common choices.
Dodge is pretty self explanatory, expertise is a really nice threat stat for warriors because all of our damage is physical and it reduces the chance for attacks to be parried or dodged but gemming for it is really not essential unless you're having problems with threat, agility may seem a little odd but it's not entirely useless...It does give a slight amount of armor/dodge/crit but really more than one gem of this is just pointless.
The reason for this is simple, with the way the mechanics of the fights in the last couple of tiers have been it's much safer and smarter to have a high health pool than to go for any type of avoidance stat. Dodge/parry/block will come with gear, they're not stats any serious tank should really be gemming though because in ToC/Icc alot of the dmg you're going to be taking isn't avoidable anyway. And for the damage that is avoidance is really too gimmicky to be reliable for anything current making stam your new best friend.
Second: Enchants
Helm-Arcanum of Stalwart Protector (Argent Crusade rep)
Shoulders-Greater Inscription of the Gladiator(10k honor in SW)
or
Greater Inscription of the Pinnacle(Hodir Exalted)
Chest-Super Health(+275 health)
Bracers-Major Stamina(+40 Stam)
Gloves-Armsman(2% threat/10 Parry)
or
Heavy Borean Armor Kit(+18 Stam)
or
Glove Reinforcements(+240 Armor)
Legs-Frosthide Leg Armor(+55 Stam/22 Agi)
Boots-Tuskarr's Vitality(+18 Stam/Run speed Increase)
or
Greater Fortitude(+22 Stam)
Cloak-Mighty Armor(+225 Armor)
or
Titanweave(+16 Defense)
Third: Spec
15/3/53-Cookie Cutter spec, goes deep enough into arms for Impale/Deep Wounds, gets Armed to the Teeth from the Fury tree, and everything else is spent in Prot to pick up the necessary tanking talents there.
Can be seen here: www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Aggramar&cn=Arywin
Instead of going for Impale/Deep Wounds in the arms tree, you could spec into fury to pick up improved shouts...This is generally considered more of an offtanking spec though and should really only be taken if there aren't any fury/arms warriors around that can provide them.
Personally I prefer the Deep Wounds build but you may feel differently.
Fourth: Glyphs
Majors:
Glyph of Devastate-Applies 2 stacks of sunder instead of one.
Glyph of Blocking-10% block value after using Shield Slam.
Glyph of Shield Wall-Reduces dmg reduction to 40% but lowers cooldown by 2 minutes.
Glyph of Sunder-Your sunder and devastate abilities apply sunder armor to an additional enemy nearby.
Glyph of Taunt-Increases your chance to hit with taunt ability by 8%.
Minors:
Glyph of Command-Increase duration of Commanding Shout by 2 minutes.
Glyph of Thunderclap-Increases range of Thunderclap by 5 yards.
Glyph of Charge-Increase range of charge by 5 yards.
Glyph of Bloodrage-Reduces health cost of Bloodrage ability by 100%
