One of the coolest things about a warlock is his or her unique ability to summon a minon from the twisting nether.
Here is their break down:
Imp - Little bitty thing, this guy tosses fire bolts. Probably his best feature is a party/raid-wide buff called Blood Pact, which increases all party members health. Due to fire damage, this is best used with Destruction specs.
Voidwalker - Also known as the Blue Berry. He has great tanking abilities and a nifty feature called sacrifice. While it actually sacrifices your Blue Berry (duh), it gives you a bubble that absorbs damage. Kinda like your own personal Pally. - EDIT: Doesn't actually sacrifice the BB anymore. Just takes a chunk of his health, making it a viable PvP pet.
Succubus - There is no cooler pet. She has a whip. She wins. Hands down. The succubus is the pet preferred by both Affliction spec'd warlocks and PvPers. She is great at crowd control with her seduce but also does more damage than the other soulsharded pets. - EDIT: Actually mostly a PvP pet now.
Felhunter - A cute (kinda) little pup, this was the old Affliction spec pet of choice. Nowadays, his biggest strength is in battlegrounds, thanks to his spell lock, devour magic, and detect invisibility. Also great for raid utility because of Fel Intellect, which buffs all party/raid memebers with extra Intellect and Spirit. EDIT - Once again, this pup is the pet of choice of Affliction Raiders. Make sure you spec into Improved Felhunter in the Affliction tree.
Inferno - Did you have a pet rock as a kid? Well, this is the Warlock's equivalent. Made of rock and green swirly stuff, this dude requires an Inferno Stone (sold at regent vendors). He does AoE damage at summon and hits pretty hard. His downfall is that he doesn't stay around for long, so summon him towards the end of your fight when the extra deeps is needed.
Felguard - This is also a big, mean looking dude. The Felguard requires points up to the talent in the demonology tree and uses a soul shard to summon. He hits hard and has an awesome stun ability. While he can take more damage than the succubus, he hits harder than the voidwalker, making him a great leveling pet.
Doomguard - Probably the most wicked of all the pets, this is a huge demon that I like to call Big Guy. He takes a series of pain-in-the-ass quests to get, uses a Demonic Figurine (sold by regent vendors), takes a full party to summon, as well as taking a huge amount of damage from one of it's summoners. While it seems like this is a lot just for one minion, he hits like a Mack truck and has the health of a mini-boss. As with the inferno, he doesn't last long but all the trouble is definitely worth it.
